About CA Bakehouse

Fresh Egg Tarts, Mochi Cakes, Custom Cakes, and Green Waffles. 20 Years Family Bakery. From Century Bakery to CA Bakehouse!

Located at 979 Story Rd Unit 7066, San Jose, CA 95122, CA Bakehouse operates as a bakery serving San Jose in California. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.

In San Jose, the best-known bakeries and bagel shops have lines on weekend mornings, so arrive early or order ahead where the shop offers it. Across California, immigrant bakeries add Mexican pan dulce, Vietnamese banh mi bread, Chinese buns, Middle Eastern sweets and European rye to the mix, and many gluten-free and vegan bakeries have opened in larger cities. Check the listing for hours, whether the shop accepts custom cake orders and its Google rating before you go, and call about allergens, since small kitchens often share equipment. Day-old bread and end-of-day discounts are common if you ask.

Hours are published for 3 days a week. On most of those days it is open 12–4 pm. Note that it does not open on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (408) 287-9188. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. Its website is cabakehouse.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

Its Google rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 279 reviews, a solid but mixed picture; reading the most recent reviews will tell you what to expect.

San Jose is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around San Jose is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Wow, I didn’t know I could be so disappointed by a bakery. Way overhyped. Everything was super dry and over priced. The pandan mochi waffle was SO thin and unflavored and not crispy. Go around the block to Nuoc Mia Vien Dong to get crispy, flavorful Panan mochi waffles! The only mediocre thing was Pandan honeycomb cake: $4: 7/10: okay, spongy and moist. And flavor is okay but tastes sugary. DO NOT get pandan waffle. Tastes like a bad regular deflated waffle. DO NOT get black sesame Choux: very dry pastry and the filling is bad. DO NOT get pandan Portuguese tart: dry pastry. Filling is okay.

CA Bakehouse is the kind of bakery that makes self-control tap out by item number three. Everything we tried was ridiculously fresh, packed with flavor, and tasted like it had just left the oven minutes earlier. The menu isn't huge, but every item feels carefully crafted. We sampled the Kaya Choux, Banana Mochi Cake, Guava Mochi Cake, Pandan Green Waffle, Ube Croissant, and Portuguese Egg Tart. The stars of the show were easily the Ube Croissant and Banana Mochi Cake. The croissant was beautifully flaky with rich ube flavor in every bite, while the banana mochi cake had that perfect chewy-meets-moist texture that keeps you reaching for "just one more bite." In a Bay Area bakery scene packed with options, CA Bakehouse stands out. The quality is next level, the flavors are memorable, and every pastry felt like it was made by someone who genuinely cares about their craft. My only regret was not ordering more.

Fresh and not too sweet pastries here! The egg tarts are generously sized with a crisp buttery crust and a silky custard center. The cream puffs were filled with a smooth cream but not heavy at all.

Delicious Vietnamese desserts, especially those have pandan flavor! So far I tried honeycomb, choux, egg tart and croissant, they're all delicious!

Seriously. SO GOOD. If I lived in San Jose, I would eat here all the time. I stopped in while visiting the area for a work conference and CA Bakehouse did not disappoint. We got so many things: β€’ Ube + taro choux β€’ Ube + taro croissant β€’ Portuguese egg tarts β€’ Pandan Green Waffle β€’ and Pandan bread My favorites had to be a toss up between the flaky, delicious Portuguese egg tart and the perfectly filled ube + taro choux. If you've never had a choux, it's almost like an elevated cream puff. I definitely recommend coming early, they seem to run out of goods quickly. Parking can also be hard to find since CA Bakehouse is located in a busy shopping center. You order at the door and the person taking your order will hand you all of your pastries. There's not a ton of seating in the area, unless you're dining at a neighboring business, so we ate in our car. ...But I have zero regrets about those crumbs because it was worth it!
